Lash Options Pros and Cons

Eyelash extensions are easy to fall in love with because they help bring out your eyes and really enhance your make up. If you’re one of the lucky ones you were born with long, full and lovely lashes and might not even need to wear mascara, but most of us need a little help. We need help with our glam and that’s where falsies come in to save the day! There are 4 main lash options and we’re gonna cover the pros and cons of each of them. Let’s talk about lashes now!

Strip Lash Extensions;

PROS
~Available in various styles, colors and longer lengths than individual lashes
~Only take a few minutes to apply
~Easier to find in stores
~Won’t take your natural lashes out while removing
~Safer than individual lashes
~Long lasting (With good adhesive)

CONS
~Possible lifting and edges may peel up
~Some say that strip lash extensions look too dramatic and fake
~ One time use is recommended because strip lashes may get damaged when trying to clean/remove glue

Individual Lash Extensions (Usually Mink Lashes)

PROS
~Easier to achieve a more natural look
~Lifts your natural lashes
~Adds volume to your natural lashes
~ Different looks can be created by using multiples lash sizes

CONS
~Real lashes can come out while removing individuals due to adhesive
~Price point is usually $90 or more
~Takes about an hour and a half to apply
~Can cause permanent damage if done incorrectly

Individual lash extensions done at a nail salon

PROS
~Low costs
~Can generally be done in 15 to 20 minutes

CONS
~Lashes weigh heavily on natural lashes causing them to fall out faster
~Most people applying lashes in nail shops are not properly trained to do lashes and work around the eyes. They don’t use a pharmaceutical grade adhesive. They usually use cheaper products and sometimes even hair extension glue.
~Cheap products that they use can cause dry red puffy eyes, itching and/allergic reaction
~Faux eyelashes are applied in clumps rather than individually.
~The primary goal is to get you in and out because they work in volume


Magnetic Eyelash Extensions

PROS
~No glue required (Don't have to worry about glue/adhesive getting into your eyes)
~Reusable
~Less expensive than professional individual lash extensions

CONS

~These lashes only fit in the middle section of your natural lashes; therefore your edges may look like they're constantly lifting
~Do not feel as secure
~Take a while to apply
~you may have to trim them to fit the shape of your normal lashes (Keep in mind that these lashes cannot be bent)
